A Method for Obtaining Optical Properties of Two-Layer Tissue such as Thin-Skinned Fruits by Using Spatial Frequency Domain Imaging

As a new imaging inspection method with characteristics of wide view field and non-contact, spatial frequency domain (SFDI) is very suitable to evaluate the optical properties agricultural products ensure sustainable development agriculture. However, due unique forward scattering fruit skin, only few photons can return skin surface after interacting flesh, thus affecting detection accuracy flesh layer. This study aims propose more accurate wider applicable extract two-layer tissue from SFDI measurements. Firstly, model was proposed by optimizing reflectivity layer through thickness Secondly, influence different layers on optimization investigated Monte Carlo simulation, then, effectiveness evaluated for practical phantom experiments. Finally, this used obtain properties, layer, four thin-skinned fruits (pear, apple, peach muskmelon) verify its universality. The results showed that, average errors absorption coefficient (μa1) reduced (μ′s1) were 10.87% 7.91%, respectively, (μa2) (μ′s2) 16.76% 8.64%, respectively. provides basis such as fruits, which be further nondestructive quality evaluations.
